Fast charging. Even where the grid is weak.
SAEV Charge is South Africa's first battery-backed DC fast-charging network. 120 kW+ at the plug, from a grid connection as small as 15 kW. So the chargers go where you stop, not where the substations are.
- 120 kW+
- charging speed
- 272 kWh
- battery in every station
- 15 kW
- all the grid we need
- 100
- stations in Phase 1
You shouldn't have to plan a road trip around chargers.
A fast charger needs 120 kW at the plug. The padstal on the N7, the farm stall past De Doorns, the mall car park you actually want to stop at: most of them have 15 or 20 kW to spare and a grid upgrade queue measured in years. So the fast-charging map has followed the big connections instead of the traffic. That's why your route has gaps, and why the charger you found is round the back of an industrial estate.
Your car charges from a battery. The battery charges from the grid. Slowly.
Every SAEV station holds 272 kWh in a SolarMD high-voltage battery. Your car draws from it at 120 kW and up. The grid refills it at whatever the site can spare, off-peak, overnight. A 15 kW connection at a farm stall now does what used to need a substation. And when loadshedding hits, the station doesn't notice. Both bays stay live.
Find it. See the price. Tap. Charge.
Live availability on the map. The price per kWh, VAT included, before you plug in. Pair an RFID tag once and tap to charge with your phone in the car. Prepaid wallet that tops up with Apple Pay or Google Pay. Live session tracking while you eat. Support that can see your session and fix it, any hour, without a phone call.
The routes first. Then the cities.
Phase 1 puts 100 battery-backed stations on the N1, N2, N3, N4 and N7, then fills in Gauteng, Cape Town and Durban. The first sites are under construction now. Our stations also appear in Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze and in-car navigation, with live availability.
Own the site? We want it.
Three parking bays. Zero cost. We fund, build, own and run the station, and you earn 15% of every session while drivers spend 30 minutes at your counter. Your electricity bill's maximum demand doesn't move. Or own the hardware yourself and we run the network for you at the same 15%.
The full stack. One company.
The station, the software behind it, the servers it talks to, the app in your hand, the billing and the support. All designed, built and run by SAEV Charge. When something goes wrong, there is one team responsible and it's us.
Built with SolarMD. Battery storage engineered and manufactured in South Africa.
